Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are celebrating the success for their Crafter van on a number of fronts, at home and abroad, writes Trish Whelan . In Poland where the Crafter is produced alongside its MAN TGE sibling, the plant has just produced its 200,000th vehicle since the autumn of 2016. Here at home, the sales of the Crafter have increased by 84 per cent compared to the same period in 2018. Since September 2018, the Wrzesnia plant in Poland where Crafter is produced has been running three shifts per day with daily production of 420 vehicles. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles 192 van range  The Brightstone Group is set to open a fully dedicated Volkswagen Service Plus Van Centre at East Wall Road on the north side of Dublin on 1 September, writes Trish Whelan . This location will be temporary for 12 months while a brand new 2-acre development site opens at Airside, Swords later in 2020. This new Service Plus Van Centre is a fully dedicated sales and after sales facility and will offer customers professional service and competent advice when it comes to their transport solutions. A new Grand California motorhome has been launched in Ireland by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, at a starting price of €76,900, writes Brian Byrne. Based on the Volkswagen Crafter large van, the completely new addition to the California range is available in both 2- and 4-berth formats, and the price includes product design and delivery. Power is a 177hp engine with 8-speed automatic transmission. Features include a bathroom with toilet and shower, a kitchen and dining area, and there are options which include overhead bunk beds for children, an awning, rear bicycle rack, and air-conditioning. All the driver assistance and infotainment systems from the Crafter are available in the Grand California. The first California motorhome was launched in 1988, based on the Bulli commercial van. The new one joins the T6 based vehicle.
